Among the many new features for the 2011 model of uniquely Volvo innovations is the Pedestrian Detection system, as it's been dubbed. It's similar to Volvo's city safety system, which helps avoid rearenders with other autos in traffic because it recognizes human forms at low speeds and will step in and apply full braking if it feels the driver isn't braking in time.
